Stride Right Farms offers for sale some of the finest Rocky Mountain and Kentucky Mountain Saddle horses that the breeds have to offer. Most of the stocks are double registered and some triple registered. All under saddle stock is certified by one or more of the registries to assure you that you are getting a horse that meets the breed standards in terms of temperament, conformation and gait.
An alternative to purchase is the farm’s Lease Lesson Program. This program is a good way to assure yourself that the horse selected is appropriate and is exactly the horse you want.
All under saddle horses have been trail trained in addition to basic ground manners and arena training. Some have also had experiences in the show ring. All horses are taught to load, clip, bathe and will stand well for a farrier. This is a part of their basic training.
Stride Right Farms is not a horse broker farm. The horses sold here are either bred on the farm or by an associate breeder. All stock has been in our possession since weanling or yearling age. Therefore, we can give you the whole history of the horse you are considering for purchase.

Buying younger horses
Most horses at Stride Right Farms are started under saddle when they are in the age range of two and three years. These green horses are brought on slowly in a non-stressful environment that gives them confidence. This confidence helps to prevent them from being over reactive to new situations.
Normally a green horse is starting its trail training within 90 days of being started under saddle. Again, they are not pushed in the trail training, allowing them to get use to new experiences slowly. Horses in training are worked 5 days per week and when not being worked they are kept in a herd environment. Most of the farms’ under saddle sale horses are between the ages of 3-4 years old. These horses may have more time and true trail experience than many horses have by the time they are 6-7 years old.
Stride Right Farms’ training is for horses being offered for sale. The sale horses are in constant training up to the time that they are sold. Usually there are 6 to 8 under saddle horses in training at one time. We do offer training and support to any of our current and former customers’ horses from Stride Right Farms.
